Playful, lively, engaging and joyful, Lily van der Stokker's work takes as its subject not only the stereotypes associated with femininity, but also the economics of artistic creation and its everyday annoyances (domestic chores, health problems, money worries...). In this exhibition, a series of large murals and painted pieces of furniture highlight these universal themes, as well as others that have traditionally been kept out of the realm of 'serious' art, such as the decorative and emotional.
Lily van der Stokker is represented by the galleries Air de Paris, Paris, and kaufmann repetto, Milan.
This exhibition has been made possible thanks to the financial support of the G.I.P. Normandie Impressionniste, the Dutch Embassy in Paris and the Mondriaan Fund.
