Located in the centre of the city of Caen, the Frac Normandie Caen boasts 650 sq. m. of exhibition area and its premises includes several dedicated spaces: the Fractory, a room for hands-on artistic activities; the Frac show, which is used for events; and the Faitout, a multi-purpose area for projects and documentation.
The Frac Normandie Caen offers a rich programme of on-site exhibitions – showcasing works from its collection, hosting guest artists for solo or group exhibitions, giving carte blanche to curators, artists and theoreticians, all of which reflect the Frac’s commitment to maintaining a constant link with creation.
With its new premises, the Frac is now expanding its cultural outreach initiatives by offering new projects, as well as visits and workshops tailored to each type of target audience.
The Frac also continues to disseminate works at regional level and to organise exhibitions in partnership with cultural institutions, local communities and more unconventional venues. Events and encounters with current figures in contemporary creation are held throughout the year.
The Frac has long been particularly committed to fostering and promoting local artists; numerous projects, residency programmes and artwork trails are organised each year with the aim of providing support for both new and more established artists, while also promoting intergenerational exchanges. These initiatives seek to forge a real bond with local players. In a similar vein, the new premises will reflect the notion of a hub for artists from all over Europe, as well as those emerging in the Normandy region, through specific events, exhibitions and spotlight focuses.
